Rafael El Baz: 11 Million Dots

11 Million Dots is the UK’s largest permanent participatory artwork, transforming the six-storey façade of Vantage Data Centers’ London campus in Park Royal into a score of local life. Made from 11 million perforations, the work translates over 120 recordings, including interviews, ambient sound, and everyday voices from residents, workers, and passers-by, into encoded patterns that echo waveforms, binary, and the industrial textures of the area. Designed to blend seamlessly into the local environment, it is also linked to an online audio archive so the public can return to these voices and sounds long into the future.
