Imperial College London

ABOUT

Imperial College London is one of the world’s leading universities. Founded in 1907, it builds on a distinguished past – having pioneered penicillin, holography and fibre optics – to shape the future. Imperial researchers work across disciplines to improve health and wellbeing, understand the natural world, engineer novel solutions and be leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship.

With its main teaching and research facilities in South Kensington, its innovation hub in White City, and halls of residence in North Acton, Imperial forms an integral part of the fabric of West London. Its large White City Campus is fast becoming a centre of discovery and innovation, supporting the College’s mission to achieve enduring excellence in research and education in science, engineering, medicine, and business for the benefit of society.

Imperial has long supported local communities and businesses through establishing departments within the College that lead initiatives to encourage wider community involvement. Its Enterprise team has been hugely successful with a proven track record of supporting and encouraging entrepreneurship amongst its students as well as forging connections with the local community. Its Outreach team has engaged with over 17 schools across the OPDC and the London Borough of Ealing, encouraging students to engage with STEM subjects and helping communities access futures in these fields. The College also regularly hosts local school children at the White City Campus’ Invention Rooms, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in prototyping, making, digital manufacturing, 3D printing, and metalwork.

The College is committed to enabling collaboration between students, academics, businesses, and local communities, and is proud to be supporting the flourishing entrepreneurial West Tech ecosystem present within Park Royal’s Design District.
